Anakie

The Anakie sapphire field includes all the areas of sapphire wash in Central Queensland located around Anakie, a small railway township about 28 miles west of Emerald. The known sapphire areas in this field are Retreat Creek (Sapphire Township), Rubyvale, Tomahawk Creek, the Willows and the Glenalva Field. Although only a small town, Anakie can cater for most of the essential needs of the visitor with a hotel-motel, a store, post office and police station.
